One must be careful, this robot is that is having good results but always takes an open operation dragging that does not close by that goes lost, and if the opposite trend is strong, is when he jumps the margin call and merges the account . In the backtest you can see the decline as the end.

The Breakout  Expert Advisor is a VertexFX client-side script that trades the breakouts based on Daily bars.

The concept behind this Expert Advisor is when the price breakouts out the previous day’s High or Low, it is an indication of a strong trend in that direction which can be traded with a high probability of success.

The EA folow certain ENTRY RULES which are as follows: –

Rule Number 1.    Entry rules are evaluated only between the configured times of the Expert Advisor, which is from MondayHour on Monday uptoFridayHouron Friday.

Rule Number 2.    Entry rules are evaluated only if there is no open position.

Rule Number3.    BUY trade is initiated if the current Ask price has crossed above the previous day’s High. The stop-loss is set to SL points, the take-profit is set to TP points. The lot-size is calculated based upon the UseMM parameter, either as fixed lot-size (Lots) or based on risk-per-trade (PercentMM).

Rule Number4.    SELL trade is initiated if the current Bid price has crossed below the previous day’s Low. The stop-loss is set to SL points, the take-profit is set to TP points. The lot-size is calculated based upon the UseMM parameter, either as fixed lot-size (Lots) or based on risk-per-trade (PercentMM).

Rule Number5.    When trading on Monday, the previous day is consider as Friday even if there is data available for the Sunday. In other words, the data for Sunday candle is ignored.

If a position is opened, the Expert Advisor tracks it using a trailing stop to protect the profits.
This Expert Advisor can be attached and traded on a chart of any-time frame, however, it uses daily price bars internally for its calculations. … akout.html

Hi Everyone!

Strong sell signal: Red sell bar reaches 80% or above (buy bar 20% or less).

I have been looking at various ways the market returns to the average price values.  One strategy I've used with some success is using Keltner bands to measure 20 period standard deviations.  Each deviation is a support and resistance level and should be traded as such.  I like having 1.5 and 3 STD lines on my chart.  The further it gets away from the twenty MA, the more likely it is to return.  When it does stay away from the 20, it is usually a strong trend.  I'm kind of torn between using the STD Channel tool and the keltner bands, but both are good indicators.

A trending market can move between parallel support and resistance levels. A price channel between two parallel lines can often be drawn in a trending market. The key to a price channel is that the lines be parallel to each other. The value of the price channel in predicting the ongoing speed of a trend depends on the lines being parallel.

Unlike trend lines, which can be drawn on any chart with two relative lows or highs, price channels should not be forced on a chart where they are not quickly apparent. Once a trend line is established, create a duplicate parallel line on the chart. Then move it up to the relative highs above or down to the relative lows below the trend line. If two or more fit with the line, there may be a valid price channel. Otherwise, the market may simply be too volatile - even in the midst of a strong trend - to plot a channel.

In the above example the (support) trend line itself is valid, but creating a parallel line on the opposite side of the prices does not add any value to the chart and is not warranted by the data. Placing a support or resistance line where it does not belong will simply provide you with false signals to buy or sell.

A trend represents a general direction of the market. Dow Theory asserts that major trends have three distinct phases: accumulation, public participation and distribution. The accumulation phase represents the first part of the trend in which those who are well-informed buy or sell. In other words, if the well-informed recognize that the recent downtrend is soon coming to an end, they would buy, and vice versa.

The public participation phase involves the masses following the major trend. This occurs as prices begin to accelerate rapidly and there is news supporting the trend.

The final distribution phase occurs as the news highly favors the current trend and speculative volume and public participation increase even further. At this point, the well-informed investors who accumulated when the market was at its peak (trough) begin to sell (buy) before other investors begin to follow suit.

A Trend Is Assumed to Be in Effect Until It Gives Definite Signals That It Has Reversed

This is a major theory that essentially mirrors the physical law stating that an object in motion tends to continue in motion until some external force causes it to change direction. Relating that principle to price trends, a strong trend will tend to continue in its current direction unless there is a price reversal indication, as per technical or even fundamental analysis. The later articles will focus on learning to spot reversals in the market and how traders can place orders to take advantage of such reversals.

The recently technology advancement has broken down the barriers that used to stand between retail clients of FX market and the inter-bank market. The online forex trading revolution was originated in the late 90's, which opened its doors to retail clients by connecting the market makers to the end users. With the high-speed Internet access and powerful central processing unit, the online trading platform at home user's personal computer now serves as a gateway to the liquid FX market. Retail clients can now trade together with the biggest banks in the world, with similar pricing and execution. What used to be a game dominated and controlled by major inter-banks is becoming a common field where individuals can take the same opportunities as big banks do.

Technology breakthroughs not only changed the accessibility of the FX market, they also changed the way of how trading decisions were made. Research showed that, as opposed to unable to find profitable trading methodologies, the primary reason for failure as a speculator is a lack of discipline devoted to successful trading and risk management. The development of iron discipline is among the most challenging endeavors to which a trader can aspire. With the help of modern trading or charting softwares, traders can now develop trading systems that are comprehensive, with detailed trading plans including rules of entry, exit, and risk management model. Furthermore, traders can do backtesting and forward testing of a particular strategy on a demo account before commitment of capital.

When the system trading softwares were first introduced into the store of trading tools, traders would need programming skills and a strong background in mathematical technical analysis. With the effort of system trading software companies making their products more adaptable to mass market, the system trading softwares are now more user-friendly and simpler to use. At this point, non-programmers with basic understanding of mathematical technical analysis can enjoy the amusement of system trading.

While system trading might not provide the 'holy grails' of trading, it offers as prototypes or guidelines for beginners to starting trading with sound mathematical model and risk management. Over time, traders can develop trading systems that match their individual personality.

Trading Is An Art, Not A Science
The systems and ideas presented here stem from years of observation of price action in this market and provide high probability approaches to trading both trend and countertrend setups, but they are by no means a surefire guarantee of success. No trade setup is ever 100% accurate. Therefore, no rule in trading is ever absolute (except the one about always using stops!). Nevertheless, these 10 rules work well across a variety of market environments, and will help to keep you out of harm's way.

Never Let A Winner Turn Into A Loser
The FX markets can move fast, with gains turning into losses in a matter of minutes, making it critical to properly manage your capital. There is nothing worse than watching your trade be up 30 points one minute, only to see it completely reverse a short while later and take out your stop 40 points lower. You can protect your profits by using trailing stops and trading more than one lot.

Logic Wins; Impulse Kills
It can be a huge rush when a trader is on a winning streak, but just one bad loss can make the same trader give all of the profits and trading capital back to the market. Reason always trumps impulse because logically focused traders will know how to limit their losses, while impulsive traders are never more than one trade away from total bankruptcy.

Never Risk More Than 2% Per Trade
This is the most common and most violated rule in trading. Trading books are littered with stories of traders losing one, two, even five years' worth of profits in a single trade gone terribly wrong. By setting a 2% stop-loss for each trade, you would have to sustain 10 consecutive losing trades in a row to lose 20% of your account.

Use Both Technical And Fundamental Analysis
Both methods are important and have a hand in impacting price action. Fundamentals are good at dictating the broad themes in the market that can last for weeks months or even years. Technicals can change quickly and are useful for identifying specific entry and exit levels. A rule of thumb is to trigger fundamentally and enter and exit technically. For example, if the market is fundamentally a dollar-positive environment, we'd technically look for opportunties to buy on dips rather than sell on rallies.

Always Pair Strong With Weak
When a strong army is positioned against a weak army, the odds are heavily skewed toward the strong army winning. This is the way you should approach trading. When we trade currencies, we are always dealing in pairs - every trade involves buying one currency and shorting another. Because strength and weakness can last for some time as economic trends evolve, pairing the strong with the weak currency is one of the best ways for traders to gain an edge in the currency market.

Being Right And Early Means You Are Wrong
In FX, successful directional trades not only need to be right in analysis, but they also need to be right in timing as well. If the price action moves against you, even if the reasons for your trade remain valid, trust your eyes, respect the market and take a modest stop. In the currency market, being right and being early is the same as being wrong. Consider a scenario where a trader takes a short position during a rally in anticipation of a turnaround. The rally continues for longer than anticipated, so the trader exits early and takes a loss - only to find that the rally eventually did turn around and their original position could have been profitable.

Differentiate Between Scaling In And Adding To A Loser
The difference between adding to a loser and scaling in is your initial intent before you place the trade. Adding to a losing position that has gone beyond the point of your original risk is the wrong way to trade. There are, however, times when adding to a losing position is the right way to trade. For example, if your ultimate goal is to buy a 100,000 lot, and you establish a position in clips of 10,000 lots to get a better average price, this type of strategy is known as scaling in.

What Is Mathematically Optimal Is Psychologically Impossible
Novice traders who first approach the markets will often design very elegant, very profitable strategies that appear to generate millions of dollars on a computer backtest. Armed with such stellar research, these newbies fund their FX trading accounts and promptly proceed to lose all of their money. Why? Because trading is not logical but psychological in nature, and emotion will always overwhelm the intellect in the end. Conventional wisdom in the markets is that traders should always trade with a 2:1 reward-to-risk ratio, the trader can be wrong 6.5 times out of 10 and still make money. In practice this is quite difficult to achieve.

Risk Can Be Predetermined; Reward Is Unpredictable
Before entering every trade, you must know your pain threshold. You need to figure out what the worst-case scenario is and place your stop based on a monetary or technical level. Every trade, no matter how certain you are of its outcome, is an educated guess. Nothing is certain in trading. Reward, on the other hand, is unknown. When a currency moves, the move can be huge or small.

Hi Antony,

Is this ea used on m15 timeframe only?

Does this ea work well on RANGING MARKETS? or it only works on TRENDING MARKETS?

Can you share backtesting or forward-testing results of this ea to show profit factor, max drawdown, etc?

+ Because it catches strong trend, do you think it works well on GU, Gbpjpy, Eurjpy because these pairs are many times TRENDING MORE STRONGLY than EURUSD?

Do you think this ea needs any more modifications to make it perform BETTER in all market conditions (ranging-bound markets, trending in one-way direction, etc)? Please advise.
