Spreads - fixed vs floating

Hi,

I have been testing various EA's and trading strategies. I have encountered a lot of talk about spreads that I don't exactly understand. But recently I encountered one EA that would not trade on a Pro account (floating) but trades fine on the Fixed account. Please advise why this might be and what is most popular to use and why. I am currently testing another EA and saw it took a trade at one broker but that same trade was not taken at another, one is an ECN type account the other is a variable Pro type account and I am thinking to hookup the fixed next to the pro and see what the results are in that case.

There is nothing like spreads lower than 1 pip, any higher and its just top much sometimes, especially for EAs

ECN brokers are more save because you trade on market not against broker. There is no business conflict as on MM brokers. Variable spread is normal on ECN accounts. Execution is instance without broker ingeration on other account types you can have huge dalays on delete trades by borker. It's worth to pay commision if you would like to trade without technical problems.

There are two types of spreads. Fixed spreads and floating spreads. I like floating spreads if the broker is good. I am lucky to have FXPM which gives very competitive spreads starting from 0.1 pip.
