The Gold standard is the monetary system used before by each country. But at the present time, it's not anymore because it has been abolished by the US in 1971 and Britain in 1930. It has been replaced by fiat money which we call now our nation's currency. (source: The Gold Standard)
I think the gold is our main currency, and it is (for my opinion) the real one, due to the fact that it is limited and more stable for crisis. It is been here for decades and will be for many more. Crypto and "paper" money are just a "fashion" method to transfer value into more "easy to produce" resources.
There is a reason why the biggest nation keep they gold in safe place.
